Our friends at Sirius Global Animal
Organisation (Charitable Trust) have just recently
launched a petition demanding that the Philippino
Govt enforce its 1998 Animal Welfare Act that
prohibits the consumption of dog
meat.
In the Philippines, despite this recent
law, dogs are treated little better than their
Korean or Chinese counterparts. Their front limbs
are purposely dislocated and tied behind their
backs, while a jagged tin can is forced over their
jaws to make them easier to
handle.
During these times of international strife
when many of us are thinking of our friends
and loved ones fighting overseas, it is easy
to forget the suffering that animals undergo
everyday in other parts of the world. Let us not
forget that they too need our
help.
