1) DOG-MEAT IN NEW YORK CITY
Alleged New York 'Dog Butcher' Charges TV Station With Bias

NEW YORK ; A Korean-American, Kim Ju-ho, who has been accused by the Warner Brothers' television channel 11 of selling dog meat, said Friday that it was in fact coyote meat, supplied by a white American since 1999.

"Broadcasting the sales process without offering the whole story to the television viewers is the same as racial discrimination against Korean-Americans," Mr. Kim complained.

Mr. Kim claimed that he told the Warner Brothers reporter he did not deal in dog meat. The reporter allegedly confirmed his comments and even took the hunter's tag from one coyote carcass with him.

The New York outlet of the television network reported Monday that Korean-Americans are raising dogs for food, which is banned in the United States.

The station ran a five-minute film of a Korean-American chopping a chunk of what was reported to be dog meat. Koreans in the New York area rallied to Mr. Kim's defense.

Warner Brothers stood by its report, saying that the meat was found to be that of a coyote cross-bred with a domesticated dog. The network did not say where or how the meat was analyzed.

"State policemen investigated my farm facilities and nothing suspicious came up," Mr. Kim said.

He repeated his threat of a lawsuit against the broadcaster.

2) A LETTER FROM A KOREAN IN NY
Hi,

I've been a avid Cho-sun reader for years now. As a Korean living here in NY, I come across many obstacles as any Kyo-po can imagine.

Recently, headlines across BBC (British Broadcast Company) and CNN sports have been unveiling the Korean Dog-meat consumption.

This is tarnishing Korea permanently. In every aspect of our lives. Political, social...etc. Can you imagine Park chan-ho pitching for the world series and people chanting-Dog eater! Gives me the chill as I sit here.

This "virility" mi-shin that the Old Korean men believes has to be rectified! What idiot these days believes in such hog wash. I guess many.

As a media outlet, Cho-sun has a duty to tackle this matter. Hard. Our generations here in US, or all over the world including Koreans in Korea deserves better National Marketing. Better PR. If Korea was a closed-in Nation, they have more luxury to eat whatever that pleases them. However with the global economy and CNN, this is no longer viable.

Korean government should recognize this downfall. They have to learn the power of PR in today's society.

Can't we do something?

The World Cup will no doubt, reveal this matter for the whole world to see and judge. It already has in these sites. FIFA.com CNN sports. BBC.uk

If a Olympic marathon runner can win the gold medal by eating just "Ramyun", why can't these men function without boshingtang! It's just a sad excuse of a tradition coming down from China.

Korea shouldn't stop this madness because other countries tells them to. They should stop for the plain reason of decency and rational.

Be assured. This will haunt the rest of us Koreans for years to come. I'm sure Japan is laughing.

Thank you. I had to vent to someone.
